Shailene Woodley Shares Shocking Reaction to Trump Shooting

Celebrities learn the downside of social media sooner or later.

The wrong post. The wrong opinion. The right post at the wrong time.

You never know what will infuriate a small-to-modest part of Digital Nation. And, rather than feed the trolls, it’s often best to ignore it.

That’s what actress Shailene Woodley tried when a simple, heartfelt message turned into a wave of hate. The actress reposted a message from former First Lady Melania Trump reacting to the July 13 assassination attempt on her husband, Donald Trump.

“A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion—his laughter, ingenuity, love of music and inspiration … The core facets of my husband’s life—his human side—were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times.”

Woodley got a cyber-earful after that decision.

The starlet bemoaned how social media works to Bustle magazine. She also suggested she might step away from it down the short road. It’s the other reaction to the events in question that left a larger mark on her.

Woodley shared how her friend circle reacted to the news that a would-be assassin tried to kill Trump during a campaign rally.

Trump lived, raising his fist in dramatic fashion as blood smeared his face.

Here’s Woodley describing how her inner circle – “friends, colleagues, progressive, very intelligent thinkers, shakers and movers” – reacted to the news.

“He missed! F***ing assassin missed! Maybe it was a setup. Maybe it was a conspiracy.” I was going, “Have we forgotten that two human lives were taken?” Two people died. That is sad. That is devastating. I could not understand how people were speaking about something with such passion for death.”

Only one person died that day – Pa. resident Corey Comperatore. Otherwise, her analysis is both spot on and sad.

It’s hardly unexpected.

Too many progressives greeted the news that Trump survived the assassination with a  mixture of sadness and conspiracy mongering. Rosie O’Donnell insisted, without evidence, that Trump wasn’t actually hit by a bullet that day.

Actor John Leguizamo shared an older photograph of Trump’s ear insisting he hadn’t been hit at all.

And, for years, Hollywood progressives have been pining for Trump’s death in one way or another.
