Zachary Levi Schools Whoopi, Says Hollywood is Dying

Whoopi Goldberg attempted to shame Zachary Levi last month for suggesting it’s “career suicide” to support Donald Trump in Hollywood.

Except Goldberg didn’t have the facts on her side. Sound familiar?

Goldberg made her statement on “The View” in response to Levi publicly embracing the GOP presidential candidate.

“We are going to take back this country. We are going to make it great again, we’re going to make it healthy again. And so I stand with Bobby [Kennedy, Jr.] and I stand with everyone else who is standing with President Trump. … Of the two choices that we have, and we only have two, President Trump is the man that can get us there,” Levi said.

That position, he said at the time, could be “career suicide” given Hollywood’s hard-Left nature.

Nonsense, Goldberg said from her “View” perch. The industry is roughly split down the middle, politically speaking, she suggested. Conservatives actors shouldn’t fear embracing the GOP.

Levin finally responded to Goldberg’s assessment via a chat with fans on his Instagram page.

“To all of the folks at ‘The View,’ I don’t think it’s accurate to say that somehow Hollywood is both a liberal and conservative town,” Levi said. “Back in the day, there might have been a bit more of a balance … but you really have to be at a certain level of your career [now] to really get away with it.”

Goldberg cited “Reagan” star Jon Voight, who is openly conservative and has worked steadily into his 80s, as proof the new “blacklist” doesn’t exist. She name-checked “Reagan” star Dennis Quaid, too.

“Naming just Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid … of the thousands of actors in Hollywood that you could only name two actually speaks to that. There are plenty, and by the way, they’ve sent me lots of messages, plenty of people in my industry, in Hollywood, who are terrified to publicly say they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way,” Levi continued. “That’s why you don’t see them. That’s why they’re not very prevalent or prominent. They know there’s ramifications for this kind of s***.”

Levi suggested conservative actors should start speaking up now. Why? Hollywood, Inc. is collapsing before our eyes.

“Our industry is gonna be f***ing gonzo. It already is,” he said. “The pandemic and strikes already have eroded it so much. My cry to all of you out there, you closeted conservatives and Trump voters, it’s now or never. Do whatever you feel like you need to do. If you need to come out publicly and say it, if you feel like you still can’t, then don’t. I would never pressure you to do that. But know that if what you’re afraid of is somehow the backlash of an industry that’s not going to exist very soon, then don’t let that hold you back,” he added.

Editor’s Note: It’s a brutal time to be an independent journalist, but it’s never been more necessary given the sorry state of the corporate press. If you’re enjoying Hollywood in Toto, I hope you’ll consider leaving a coin (or two) in our Tip Jar.
