The Real Reason Stars Are Suddenly Targeting Trump

Selena Gomez didn’t shed tears over the death of Laken Riley, at least not on social media.

Nor did she rally behind Aurora, Colo. residents threatened by Venezuelan gang members swarming their community.

The “Emilia Perez” star did sob, via her Instagram account, over President Donald Trump’s anti-illegal immigration policies targeting criminal offenders.

She’s not alone in thrusting herself into the political space. And, as coincidence would have it, fellow outspoken stars all happen to be attached to Oscar-nominated films.

Weird, as Rachel Zegler might say.

Consider “Wicked” standout Ariana Grande, nominated for Best Supporting Actress, attacking Trump’s science-based “two sexes” declaration. She shared an Advocates for Trans Equality post with her 376 Million followers.

“Today is a tough day for our community … The incoming administration campaigned on attacking trans people’s lives, healthcare, and dignity and we’re bracing ourselves for what these extremists will try to do next. No matter what comes, we will protect each other.”

“Emila Perez” star Karla Sofia Gascon, the trans performer nominated for Best Actress, slammed Trump’s recent decrees on gender.

“He is shameless…I hope that whatever needs to happen happens to shut everyone up, on both sides.”

Actor/director Jesse Eisenberg targeted not Trump but MAGA supporter Elon Musk in a recent interview. The creator of “A Real Pain,” up for two Oscars, told the host of “Real Time with Bill Maher” why he’s suddenly anti-Tech Bro.

“…So when I watch these incredibly powerful people, I just think, ‘Why are you not spending your day helping people?’” Why are you getting mired into this weird stuff — stuff I don’t really understand — and taking privacy concerns away, hurting people who are already hurting, marginalized people? I just can’t even understand that, so I’m not exactly thinking about them in politics. I’m just thinking, ‘Why are they not spending every day helping people?’”

The bigger question remains? Why now?

Stars have been relatively silent since Trump’s Nov. 5 election victory. Mainstream platforms noted that silence with alarm. Where is the Hollywood Resistance 2.0?

The answer is simple. The stars in question are now in Campaign Mode. No, they’re not running for office. They’re trying to snag more votes for their Oscar-nominated films.

The March 2 ceremony may be politically neutral. In recent years, stars across the creative landscape have toned down their award-show grandstanding. That includes last year’s Oscars ceremony, hosted by comedy propagandist Jimmy Kimmel.

The votes will all be counted by then.

Now is the time to curry favor with fellow progressives, especially those tasked with choosing this year’s Oscar winners.

One political stance, alas, came with a catch. The New York Post reports Gomez took down the crying video in question. And, later, she removed a follow-up post defending her actions.

The celebrity who vowed she would do all she can to save the illegal immigrants didn’t have the spine to stand by her own posts.
