Al Gore did more than win an Oscar for 2006’s “An Inconvenient Truth.”
The former Vice President unleashed a wave of Climate Change movies that have yet to let up. Documentaries. Sci-Fi fables. Action flicks.
Here’s but a partial list:
- “Chasing Coral”
- “Snowpiercer”
- “Merchants of Doubt”
- “Don’t Look Up”
- “The 11th Hour”
- “How to Blow Up a Pipeline”
- “Geostorm”
Hollywood went all in on scaring us into a greener, oil-free future. Even the “King of the World,” director James Cameron, got into the act. His three “Avatar” movies pushed a green agenda, earning billions at the global box office.
Other films mentioned Climate Change in more subtle ways, either with dialogue that name-checked the subject or similar second-hand methods.
And it didn’t do the trick, apparently.
A new poll shared by CNN says that only 3 percent of respondents said Climate Change is their top issue heading into the 2026 midterms.
Despite all the talk of climate change, voters, simply put, don’t care.
Climate ranks 14th on list of top issue for the midterm vote (at 3%).
Those who say it’s a very big problem is the same as in 2016 (~40%).

You can’t blame Hollywood for not trying.
Actors have done more than commit their time and energy to Climate Change projects. They’ve used their bully pulpits to push the green movement and support progressive politicians to further the cause.
Leonardo DiCaprio, whose carbon footprint makes him vulnerable to hypocrite charges, used his Oscar speech to promote the Climate Change agenda.
The actor also produced multiple documentaries on the subject and starred in Adam McKay’s Climate Change satire “Don’t Look Up.” That film earned multiple Oscar nominations, another way the industry promoted the green cause.
All that messaging. All that money. All those films. Speech after speech after speech.
The issue appears to either be shrinking the minds of the public or, perhaps, only holding steady.
